Brenda Matute joined 12News KBMT - K-JAC Beaumont as 4pm, 6pm and 10pm co-anchor from NBC 23 KVEO Rio Grande Valley morning anchor.
Matute started with KBMT on September 6, 2022.
Here is a portion what Matute posted on Facebook when joining 12News Beaumont.
"They run such a well oiled news machine and I cannot wait to get in on the momentum. As a bonus I get to live just down the street from my family and friends in Houston after spending years apart. I truly feel blessed. And I’m looking forward to telling the stories of Southeast Texas these next few years!"
When Matute left KVEO in August 2022, she posted the following on Instagram:
"It’s been a bittersweet journey and I can’t help but feel grateful today. We got the opportunity to launch a new morning show in the Rio Grande Valley and I worked alongside some pretty wonderful people. Most importantly, we served a unique community. It’s been the opportunity of a lifetime. While today closes a zany chapter in life, a new one unfolds. For now, I’m calling it the ‘bumming it out for a bit’ spell. And I think it will be good for me. Ciao Valley!"
Matute joined the Nexstar Media Group owned KVEO in August 2020 from KZTV Action 10 News / KRIS 6 News Corpus Christi where she was a reporter/fill-in anchor.
She got her TV news biz start with KIDY/KXVA San Angelo as a morning show producer and then reporter.
The University of Houston grad worked for ESPN 97.5 KFNC Houston while in school.
