If you are a country station in the Houston, Texas broadcast area, what better way to excite listeners than to give away $20,000 to buy a horse?
Audacy’s 100.3 The Bull KILT recently wrapped up “Neigh of the Day,” its five-week end-of-summer promotion, by gifting a listener $20,000 to buy a horse (or whatever else they desire).
“When in Texas, you have to give away a horse, right?” said Melissa Chase, Vice President of Programming, Audacy Houston. “‘Neigh of the Day’ was an opportunity to create a unique experience both on air and in person. We were also able to connect with listeners who live in more rural areas and miss a lot of the events that are done closer to the city. This promotion marked the first time a horse was a radio prize – and for 100.3 The Bull, hopefully not the last!”
The station selected 97 qualifiers from on-air call-ins and in-person events (“Neigh-Borhood Parties”), which included a custom horse trailer, a photo area with live miniature ponies, and 100.3 The Bull radio personalities onsite.
At the “Neigh of the Day” finale on August 25 at Frio Hill Country Grill and Barn, these listeners participated in a random key drawing to unlock the horse trailer, with Janie from Katy opening it for the $20,000 reward.
