Mary McCoy has been broadcasting on the radio for 73 years, many of those at K-Star Country 99.7 FM KVST Huntsville with Larry Galla from 10 am to noon.
McCoy, 86, a 2010 Texas Radio Hall of Fame member, has been announced as one of 24 nominees for the 2024 Radio Hall of Fame Induction class.

The Museum of Broadcast Communications announced Mary McCoy is one of eight new inductees into the Radio Hall of Fame for 2024. She will be honored at the 2024 Radio Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at the Omni Nashville Hotel in Nashville, TN.
In 2023, Guinness World Records gave McCoy the title for having the longest career as a female radio presenter.
McCoy started working at KMCO-AM in 1951, and continued on with KIKR before joining KVST.
Outside of radio, McCoy was also a singer/guitarist who shared the station with the likes of Elvis Presley and Jim Reeves. In 1960, she released her first record, "Deep Elem Blues."
More than 900 industry members will vote through June 3rd, and eight will ultimately be inducted into the 2024 Radio Hall of Fame Induction class.
The total of eight 2024 inductees will be announced on Monday, June 17th. The 2024 Radio Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place on Thursday, September 19th, at the Omni Nashville Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee.
