Randy Wallace Day February 13, 2024

Randy Wallace Day was declared on February 13, 2024, at Houston City Hall by Councilmember Dr. Carolyn Evans-Shabazz and Mayor John Whitmire.

"Whereas, Randy's berth on FOX investigations has inspired legislative changes and exposed nationwide issues, enriching the fabric of Houston's community," Dr. Evans-Shabazz read during the council meeting.  "His commitment to justice extends beyond reporting, evidenced by his collaborations with Crime Stoppers to spotlight suspects and advocate for the voiceless, notably abused animals."

"For years, Randy has demonstrated investigative prowess and compassionate advocacy in his reports," Mayor Whitmire added.  "Randy also continuously goes above and beyond due to his commitment to animal advocacy and collaborative work with Crime Stoppers."

Wallace has worked for FOX 26 Houston KRIV since December 1989, becoming one of the first reporters on the station's "City Under Siege" show.   He earned an Edward R. Murrow Award in 1996 and has been nominated for nine regional EMMY awards, winning six. Then KRIV photographer Jim Dunham and Wallace were the first FOX 26 employees nominated for a National EMMY award.

The Eastern Kentucky University grad landed his first broadcasting job at 950 KPRC-AM, where he covered the police beat.

In April 2022, at the Crime Stoppers of Houston, Houston Heroes Award Luncheon, Wallace was honored with the Johnny Klevenhagen Award for his work on FOX 26's "Breaking Bond" series.
