Bobbie Wygant, the trailblazing NBC 5 KXAS Dallas - Fort Worth arts and entertainment reporter, died Sunday at the age of 97.
Wygant, whose work was seen on the station for over seven decades, started just weeks before channel 5, then known as WBAP-TV, signed on in September 1948.
She was on the air hosting the station's midday show in November 1963 when the assassination of President John F. Kennedy took over programming.
KXAS wrote an excellent profile of her time on the station.
The Bobbie Wygant Archive can be viewed on YouTube where you can watch her 60 plus year archive of interviews.
I loved Bobbie Wygant. She was wonderfully giggly, and smart about television. We never felt like competitors, and she could hold her own in a stressful situation. I once saw Bill Murray pressing Bobbie’s Texas sized belt buckle hoping the elevator would go up. https://t.co/MmqLrE7BJR
