Terri Thomas exits Radio One Houston

Terri Thomas, the Director of Operations/Programming for 97.9 THE BOX KBXX, MAJIC 102.1 KMJQ and Praise Houston KMJQ HD 2, is leaving her Radio One position on November 10, 2023.

Thomas has been with the company for a total of 25 years, moving from WIZF, Cincinnati to Houston in 2005/

Before that Thomas was at WFXE, WHBX, and during her tenure in Houston also covered the Indianapolis and Charlotte clusters for a time.

“I believe the most successful radio stations are actually lifestyle brands that amplify, embody and positively influence the culture of the city we serve," Thomas said in a statement. "Identifying, cultivating and coaching great teams, while super-serving our listeners, clients, city and each other have been the cornerstone of my success. I’m grateful for the many opportunities over the years with Radio One to see that philosophy play out in real time. I would like to thank Ms. Hughes, Alfred Liggins and the entire Radio One family for entrusting me to captain the Houston market thru strong and difficult times that we have won and overcome together. From the pain of a city under water during Hurricane Harvey to pivoting thru a global pandemic we have conquered many obstacles together.”

Fitting to play within the Radio One name and from her favorite movie, Drumline, Terri’s motto to her team has always been, “One Band. One Sound”, meaning that no matter what role you play on the team we are one and when one of us wins, we all win!

As for what’s next? Thomas says, “I look forward to enjoying the holidays with my family, then continuing and expanding my efforts to make maximum impact on people, brands, and culture.” Follow Terri for some ‘free game’ on Instagram @TerriThomas and you can reach her direct at TerriThomasInc@gmail.com.
