Stephanie Valle celebrates 22 years with KVIA El Paso

Stephanie Valle is celebrating 22 years with KVIA ABC-7 News El Paso.

"How it started on this day 22 yrs ago/how it’s going. In 2001, I got my first official press pass from [KVIA]," Valle tweeted. "I was excited to be a working reporter. Today, I’m lucky and grateful to still do what I’ve wanted to do since I was a kid."

She took on the role of weeknight co-anchor at 5pm, 6pm and 10pm in January 2020, succeeding longtime ABC-7 and now KTSM 9 anchor Estela Casas.

Valle's journey with KVIA started as an unpaid intern in 2001 while attending The University of Texas at El Paso.

She steadily climbed the ranks, serving as a general assignments reporter and weekend morning anchor until 2008. Later, she transitioned to the morning reporter and took on the role of anchor/producer for ABC-7 at Noon until 2014. In 2015, Valle assumed the co-anchor position for "Good Morning El Paso" and eventually became the show's Executive Producer. In 2019, she was appointed as the News Operations Manager and co-anchor for ABC-7 at 4.

Valle received the 2023 and 2022 RTDNA Regional Edward R. Murrow Award for Best Podcast. Her in-depth reporting on opioid-dependent newborns in 2017 earned her the Best Series award from the Texas Associated Press Broadcasters (TAPB). In the same year, the TAPB, now known as the Texas Association of Broadcasters, honored Valle and the entire Good Morning El Paso team with the Best Morning Newscast Award.  She has also been recognized by publications like the El Paso Times, The City Magazine, and El Paso Inc's lifestyle magazine, "What's Up."
