Ashly Elam left his sports director role at 12News KBMT-KJAC Beaumont in July 2023.
Elam is now director of communications for the Hardin-Jefferson Independent School District.
He worked for the stations since 1999 starting as a 19-year-old Lamar University student intern and then tape editor (remember Beta tapes?).
The eventual award-winning sports anchor worked there the first time from 1999 through May 2017, returning in February 2019 after working for a Southeast Texas sports magazine/website.
