Andy Andersen has exited the chief meteorologist role for KCEN 6 Waco/Temple/Killen as of June 2023 after 25 years with the Central Texas station.

Evening anchor Kris Radcliffe announced the news on-air:
"We do want to send a heartfelt thank you out tonight to our former chief meteorologist, Andy Andersen.
And he's a very humble man who didn't want a big deal made about it.
I know many of you will be shocked by this news. And he's no longer a part of the six news team and weather team, but he leaves behind big shoes to fill.
Andy became our chief back in 1998 and since then became a fixture here in central Texas.
Andy is a skilled horseman, as many of you know, who works with the Bell County Sheriff's Posse and can frequently be seen riding with them at local events.
Andy is also involved with several local charities and spent countless hours as a bell ringer every holiday season for the Salvation Army.
Keep your eyes peeled for him if you're watching a Western. His acting career has really taken off over the past few years."
Arriving at KCEN in 1998, Andersen will be a recognizable face to Texas TV watchers as he worked for FOX 26 Houston KRIV and KIII 3 News Corpus Christi. He also worked for WAGT 26 Augusta, Georgia.
Andersen has been on television since 1979 and radio since 1979. In fact, his bio said he is a member of the Texas Radio Hall of Fame (must be under a different name as Andy Andersen is not listed on the TRHOF site).
KSAT 12 San Antonio even reported on how Andersen drives to San Antonio Commanders games to appear as the team's mascot on horseback.
