Here is a portion of what Zuniga posted to Facebook:

"After 22-plus years at KABB-TV, including the past 17 and a half anchoring the morning show, I have made the painfully difficult, yet necessary decision to end my time at FOX San Antonio later this month. It has been the honor of my life to anchor FOX News First. I take tremendous pride in this news product that we started from scratch in late 2005. Without the loyal and unwavering support of so many viewers and friends, I would have never made it this long. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for allowing me into your homes and businesses every day.

The morning shift is hard to walk away from, but it is the people and the everyday interactions with my co-workers and viewers that I will miss the most.

On air, I have shared the studio with many people who will remain friends with me for the rest of my life. I will always cherish the time spent with the amazing women who, quite literally, stood by my side all of these years: Kimberly Crawford, Monica Taylor, Jessica Headley, Breanna Barrs, Mayde Gomez, Ashley Sutton, and many others who filled in when necessary. To Brad Sowder, and before him, Shaun Stevens, thank you for the countless memories and the spot-on weather forecasts.

To Lois West, our fearless Floor Director, and the only remaining employee on staff from the day we launched FOX News First on January 2nd, 2006, thank you for always trying to get me to where I needed to be. And to the woman who has always stood by me in life, thank you Tami for always supporting and believing in me, and for keeping the kids and the house in order every weekday morning while I was at work.

I have a deep affection for the people, places, and culture of San Antonio, and I have no intention of leaving. Tami and I have loved raising our kids here and we will continue to serve our community and devote our time to charities and causes that are meaningful to us."

Zuniga's time with FOX 29 San Antonio goes all the way back to 1999 when he was a sports reporter/fill-in anchor.  He had another job in between. His latest employment with KABB started in January 2016 as a morning anchor.  He added midday anchor duties in 2015.

Before returning to FOX San Antonio, Zuniga worked as a weekend sports anchor for ABC15 KNXV Phoenix, Arizona.

The University of Houston-Victoria grad, who also attended Texas A&M University, got his pro TV start with KAVU Victoria as a sports anchor/reporter back in 1992.
