Clara Benitez joins KRIS 6 News Corpus Christi as evening anchor starting May 1, 2023.
"I’m excited to announce I have accepted an evening anchor role at KRIS6 News in Corpus Christi (anything for Selenas) I never expected to be back in South Texas, but man it feels so good," tweeted Benitez.
Like many Californians, Benitez is moving to Texas, but this is actually a return for the San Diego native.
That's because the recently engaged Benitez is returning from FOX 5 San Diego KSWB where she was a reporter from April 2021 to October 2022.
Clearly we got her hooked on the Lone Star State.
If you read my blog, then you know Benitez was what part of what KVEO's Local 23 Rio Grande Valley said was the first Latina evening anchor team in the country.
Benitez started with KVEO in 2018.
An AP award winning TV journalist and National Association of Hispanic Journalists member, Benitez started her pro TV career with KVAL 13 Eugene, Oregon as a weather anchor/multimedia journalist.
The Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University grad interned with 12NEWS KPNX Phoenix, Arizona.
