Former KSAT weathercaster blames female management for sportscaster's resignation after DWI charge

He might have retired from the station in 2018, but former KSAT San Antonio weathercaster Steve Browne is still weighing in on matters with the ABC affiliate.

Browne posted a Facebook message (now deleted) talking about the recent resignation of former KSAT sports director Greg Simmons who resigned after being arrested on a DWI charge.

According to the San Antonio Current, Browne apparently blamed the changing leadership of the station for Simmons resigning:

In a Tuesday Facebook post, the meteorologist — who was beloved for his on-air humor — said that during his tenure at KSAT, upper management was male-dominated and that anchors who made "dumb" mistakes got second chances.

"In my 26 years at KSAT I saw several examples of anchors making the same dumb mistake but it did not end their career," Browne wrote. "Its different now. Management then was all male and humanitarian principles ruled. Now that authority is dominated by women."

According to TVSpy, many San Antonio viewers did not take kindly to Browne's message.

FTVLive archived the full post before it was deleted.

The San Antonio Express-News has an update from Browne concerning the now deleted post.
