Felix Hernandez has been added to the weather team of Noticiero Telemundo Houston at Telemundo Houston KTMD. His first day on-air was Saturday, October 8, 2022.

Hernandez joins KTMD from E.W. Scripps Company’s Telemundo Corpus Christi KAJA  where he served as meteorologist for two years.

"Felix will help to elevate our La Autoridad en el Tiempo (Weather Authority) brand," Tony Canales, KTMD President and General Manager said in a statement. "For the fourth consecutive year, our forecasts have been rated most accurate by WeatheRate and his knowledge of our ever-changing weather conditions will contribute to keep our viewers safe and informed."

Before the Coastal Bend area, Hernandez was a meteorologist at Univision’s weather center in Houston where he covered stations in Miami, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, San Jose and Fresno from January 2018 to May 2020. Prior to that, he held the same position at Telemundo Oklahoma from 2017 to 2018 and Telemundo Fort Myers from 2015 to 2017.

His career began in 2012 at Cuba’s Institute of Meteorology where he specialized in the coverage of severe weather and cyclonic seasons.

Hernandez earned his bachelor's degree in Meteorology at the Higher Institute of Technologies and Applied Sciences in Havana, Cuba and is currently in the master’s program at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México studying Atmospheric Sciences and Meteorology.

He is a member of the American Meteorological Society (AMS) and dedicated to the study of Climate Change and its possible long-term effects.
