Candy Rodriguez leaves KXAN Austin

Candy Rodriguez is leaving KXAN Austin where she has been a morning multi-media journalist (MMJ) after almost five years.

Rodriguez said goodbye on KXAN Today Friday morning where she told the Austin television news audience how much her co-workers were like family.  However, it's her actual family that gave her the reason to leave:

"It's bittersweet, but I am going home to spend more time with my parents, my boyfriend and just spend quality time with them. My parents are older, so I just really want to get to know them as adults. We always wait till the last minute and we're like, 'we should have done this.' No, I want to it now. So we're going to travel and enjoy quality time and then we'll see where life takes us."

Rodriguez joined KXAN from KPLC 7 News Lake Charles, Louisiana in 2018.

The Reedley, California native moved to Anahuac, Texas with her parents and went on to graduate from Lamar University in Beaumont.
