Rose-Ann Aragon to leave KPRC 2

Rose-Ann Aragon announced last night she is leaving her reporter position with KPRC 2 Houston.

Aragon's last day on air with KPRC will be Saturday August 27, 2022.

Here is a part of what Aragon wrote on Facebook:

"After many months of reflection and prayer, I know this is the right time for me. Though, this is incredibly bittersweet. At the end of the month, I will be leaving our KPRC family and TV news for an opportunity outside the industry.

It is a dream communications position at one of the Top 5 tech companies in the world. I'll focus on innovation, tech and research - another major passion of mine. I won't be on TV, but my goal was never to be on TV. My goal is always to do good work, help and serve people. This new role allows me to stay in Houston. It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for a company focused on solving problems and empowering people from all walks to life to make an impact and achieve.

While I am excited, there is no doubt - I will miss you all very much. From the bottom of my heart - thank you for always believing in and supporting me."

UPDATE SEPTEMBER 2022
Rose-Ann Aragon announced on Facebook she is now working for Microsoft.

Yesterday, my social feeds were full of the recently posted KPRC 2 "Space Reporter" job opening.  Well, makes sense to me now due to the fact Aragon is on the channel 2 space beat.  The Emmy and National Edward R. Murrow Award winner covered other news too, as you can tell from the above video of her live report from the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. According to LinkedIn, Aragon also spearheaded KPRC’s internal community outreach program which connects community leaders and businesses with newsroom team.

Funny enough, I had a post scheduled this very morning about Aragon's engagement!  Then this big news drops.

Aragon joined KPRC in May 2017 from WCPO 9 Cincinnati, Ohio where she was a multi-media journalist (MMJ).

Before that she was an MMJ/Reporter/Fill-In Anchor/Fill-in Producer for WEEK/WHOI-TV NBC News 25 ABC HOI-19 News Peoria, Illinois.

The umma cum laude University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign grad interned with ABC Newschannel 15 WICD and CBS WCIA 3 both in Champaign, IL with another internship at NBC 5 Chicago WMAQ.

Outside of TV news, Aragon also works with the UniPro - Pilipino American Unity for Progress as a Texas advisor.

(Thanks Michael!)
