Sydney Gray announced she is leaving her NBC 23 KVEO Rio Grande Valley morning anchor position.
In follow up news, Gray will co-host the weekend morning newscast with Erin Thomas on Action News 5 WMC Memphis, Tennessee.
Here is what Gray posted on Facebook about leaving Texas:
"My time at KVEO has come to an end! Two years ago, I set a goal to become a full-time news anchor.
After several years of reporting in the field, I wanted the opportunity to sharpen my skills behind the desk. The Valley allowed me that, and I'm so grateful.
I, along with my co-anchor, producers, meteorologists, directors and reporters got to be a part of something very special when we launched a brand new morning show, for the NBC affiliate, in South Texas. It was challenging and rewarding. I appreciate our managers and everyone who made the show happen daily, but most of all, I’m thankful to our viewers.
I gained amazing friends that I will truly miss, as well as the talented group of journalists working every day to bring you the news.
I’m excited for the future and hope you’ll continue following me as I prepare for my next move!"
Gray started with KVEO in August of 2020 for a brand new morning newscast.
She came from KMTV 3 Omaha, Nebraska where she was an MMJ/fill-in anchor.
Her start in the TV biz came from KXII 12 as a bureau reporter.
The Oklahoma State University grad interned with KTUL 9 Tulsa.
The National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) member's love for TV started in the DFW area where she grew up and reported for Frisco-ISD TV.
