MeTV Houston 51 signal issues?

MeTV Houston 51 KYAZ appears to not be available for all television viewers as of May 2022.

Saturday night, I learned that the classic TV channel was not appearing on Comcast Xfinity cable.  A message displayed on the screen saying the channel wasn't available.

Kate D. in The Woodlands told me she cannot pick it up right now OTA (over the air) with a TV antenna.

When you go to the MeTV website, a message reads:

"Houston Viewers: Some over the air TV antenna viewers may experience trouble watching this network while our transmitter is undergoing repairs. We are working on resolving this issue as quickly as possible and apologize for the interruption."

The MeTV signal issues are not affecting every Houston TV viewer however. I can pick up the signal through my normal antenna and my SiliconDust HDHomeRun Flex 4K ATSC 3.0 NextGen TV tuner I just hooked up to another TV.

Whatever transmitter work is happening must weaken the signal to certain parts of the Houston viewing area and not others.

UPDATE

More info keeps coming in.

Apparently TV transmitter tower issues, maybe due to a storm, could be the reason for signal problems.  And some stations (beyond MeTV) you are having problems receiving could be operating at a reduced signal strength as a result at the moment. Stand by as things get repaired and returned to normal.

A former Houston TV station chief engineer tells me the KYAZ-TV ATSC 3.0 signal emanates from a different transmitter and transmission system than the ATSC 1.0 signal.

And more info from a viewer in the Houston-area:

"It was off the air for almost 48 hours," Randy T. commented to me on Facebook.  "It came back last night. The signal doesn’t seem as stable as before but it’s working with a few drop outs / pixelation. I receive it with an OTA (Over-the-air) outdoor antenna here in Livingston which is 88 miles from their transmitter in Missouri City."

Also, I hear MeTV Houston is back on Comcast's Xfinity cable TV service.
