In 2022, for the first time ever, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo was broadcast live in Spanish on Telemundo Houston KTMD's sister-station Telexitos.
And the ratings in Adults 18+ demographic out performed the English-language broadcasts on Bally Sports Southwest.
I learned of the historic ratings moment from longtime sportscaster Alex R. Parra (formerly of Telemundo Houston KTMD and Fox 26 KRIV) who tweeted about the Spanish-language Houston rodeo ratings earlier this month:
"A continued sign of the demographics in Houston & Texas, 1st year of @RODEOHOUSTON Spanish language broadcasts on @TeleXitos part of @TelemundoHou family & the ratings appeal compared to @BallySportsSW English language coverage are clear. Felicidades."
