KHOU 11 features Thurgood Marshall High School in "The Program"

Daniel Gotera is back with KHOU 11's "The Program," and for 2021, featuring Fort Bend ISD's Thurgood Marshall High School (FULL SHOW EMBEDDED ABOVE).

"This year's show takes all the elements we've done the previous three seasons and combines them all into one," Gotera told mikemcguff.com. "The shooting, the editing and the photography have all been fine tuned over the years making this edition one of the better ones we've put together."

The Buffalos have made the Texas state high school championship game two of the last three years and are hoping to win it all this 2021 season.

"The Marshall football team embodies what a great high school football program is all about," Gotera told me.  "Head coach James Williams and his staff have built a fantastic program based on character discipline and hard work which in turn has resulted in years of winning and many of their players having a shot to compete at the next level."

"The Program" started in 2017 and has showcased Pearland HS, Santa Fe HS and North Shore HS.  The reality meets sports show has been honored by the Associated Press and earned three Lone Star EMMY nominations.

COVID-19 restrictions kept the show off air in 2020.

"It really is an honor to work on a project like this," Gotera added.  "No other station in town is doing this type of sports storytelling and I'm fortunate to have the blessing of our management team to take on such a huge project. I think people will enjoy it. By the end of the show, you'll know the player and the coaches so you'll be rooting for them even more than you thought you would."

"The Program" first aired on channel 11 Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 10:30pm.
