Sabirah Rayford joins KPRC 2

Sabirah Rayford joined KPRC 2 September 20, 2021 as an anchor/reporter from NewsChannel 5 WPTV West Palm Beach, Florida.

Sabirah Rayford leaves KPRC 2 Houston


Rayford was a multimedia reporter for almost four years at WPTV. In 2020, she began covering racial justice stories.

Prior to West Palm, Rayford worked at WKYT Lexington, Kentucky.  She started with the station as a sophomore in college, first working in the sports department, then moving to multimedia reporter/fill-in anchor role. According to a KPRC 2 press release, Rayford was the first college student to work on air as a reporter for WKYT.  

In 2015, Rayford won an Associated Press (AP) award for her story entitled "Transgender."

The University of Kentucky grad interned with the UK athletic department and WKYT.  She was also a student reporter for ESPNU Campus Connection and a recipient of the UK Lyman T. Johnson Torch of Excellence Award for outstanding work in journalism.
