Former KTRK ND Rehan Aslam battling brain cancer

UPDATE JULY 2022

Rehan Aslam, who died following a year-long battle with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer.

ORIGINAL 2021 POST

Rehan Aslam, who just started as WABC ABC7 New York's news director last May after serving at abc13 KTRK in the same position, has announced he is recovering from surgery after discovering he had brain cancer.

Here is a partial transcript of a video Aslam released on Facebook:

"It's funny how it all started. When I first began it, it just started as what I thought of headache. And I ended up going to the E.R. and they found a mass. And lo and behold, they removed the mass. The pathology came back on the sample, on the tumor that was removed. I do have something called a Glioblastoma. We're staying as positive as we can and we're going to say as strong as we can. And it'll take me probably a couple of days to just recover and get back to where we need to be."

The former channel 13 Houston ND says his vision is still recovering after the surgery.

Aslam says is goal is to help and raise awareness for those battling Glioblastoma.
