Jason Mikell leaves KVUE Austin

Jason Mikell is leaving his KVUE Austin meteorological/morning anchor/traffic role for WKYC Cleveland, Ohio.

"You all will agree, we’ve been through some HUGE changes at @kvuenews and despite things sometimes not working out in my favor, everything happens for a reason and this journey has proven true with this next chapter," Mikell posted on Instagram.  "Thank you for allowing me to grace the tv and digital screens of Central Texas – a place I have called home through thick and thin."

Mikell joined KVUE in January 2018 as a weekend meteorologist.  In 2020, he moved to the morning Daybreak team where he also anchored the 4:30am newscast.

"I’ve transitioned from weekends, to mornings, expanded my arsenal of talent from meteorologist, to 4:30am anchor, back-up anchor, and traffic reporting," Mikell added.  "Who would’ve thought..who could’ve thought…this would happen?!"

Before Austin, Mikell was the chief meteorologist for WLIO Lima Ohio.

The Mississippi State University and University of Southern Mississippi grad interned with FOX 29 News WTXF Philadelphia and the National Weather Service in Philly.

Mikell's last day with KVUE Austin will be August 27, 2021.
