KTMD launches “El Break de Telemundo Houston” digicast

Telemundo Houston KTMD-TV announced the launch of “El Break de Telemundo Houston”, a new digital newscast, exclusively for OTT consumers and streaming audiences on Roku, Apple TV, TelemundoHouston.com and the station’s app.

Telemundo Houston began producing the digicast with a soft launch in February while experimenting with layout and content. This weekday newscast features news, special reports, exclusive content, and more, in less than 10 minutes.

“We knew it was critical to deliver news content in all the places where our audience congregates and in a format they desire,” said Tony Canales, President and General Manager of Telemundo Houston. “We are so proud and excited to be the first Spanish language television station in Houston to offer a daily digital newscast. El Break de Telemundo Houston expands our commitment to better serve the Hispanic community and offers a new way to obtain information with attractive topics for all.”

Hosted by Telemundo Houston anchors, Ingrid Barrera and Luis Gerardo Núñez, El Break de Telemundo Houston offers a quick way for viewers to get news, weather, and be in the know while on the go.

News stories are curated with a digital audience in mind and are presented in an informal style with subtle music bed, custom graphics and sound effects.

The digicast represents the initial phase of a complete strategy of content creation in the OTT ecosystem to keep new audiences informed.

On-Air, Telemundo Houston currently delivers more than three hours of locally-produced news every weekday.

New episodes will be posted weekdays at 7pm CST and available on Roku, Apple TV, TelemundoHouston.com and the station's app.
