"Thank you so much, Central Texas, for letting me tell your stories for the past (nearly) 3 years! I’m so grateful to have been able to connect with so many great people in these communities. With that, I’m beyond excited to announce that in May I’ll start as a reporter for 9NEWS (KUSA) in Denver, CO!"

Leon joined the KVUE 24 after graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

According to his bio, de Leon wanted to be in broadcasting since the age of 5, originally wanted to be a meteorologist.

In a recent Media Milwaukee profile, it was written that de Leon was inspired by Action 2 News WBAY Green Bay Wisconsin Chief Meteorologist George Graphos (now retired).  His love of weather led him to shadow TV newsers across Wisconsin and even into Chicago.

Once in school, de Leon changes his mind and went after a journalism degree.

"I cannot stress enough how thankful I am to have been able to connect with so many great people in Central Texas, so thank you for everything," de Leon tweeted.
