Lots of changes in Texas TV world summer 2020!
I'm not saying BIG Texas TV station changes don't happen during the slow summer time, but June and July 2020 were pretty wild compared to most years.
Starting at the end of June, KHOU 11 Executive News Director Sally Ramirez announced her departure from the TEGNA station and her husband, KHOU 11 anchor Russ Lewis, announced retirement from the TV biz.
Right before the 4th of July, three on-air staffers exited KRIS 6 Corpus Christi.
In mid-July in the Victoria market, Danny Aguilar took over as Newscenter 25 KAVU general manager and James Munoz became the new official news director.
That change led to a KAVU anchor line-up change announcement around a week later.
Just last week, KVUE Austin swapped the morning and evening news anchors.
Is this all COVID-19 related? Maybe some of it, but most of it probably would have happened anyway.
And July isn't even officially over yet!
What's next?
