Juan Beltran exits abc13 KTRK

KTRK abc13 community reporter Juan Beltran's bio has been removed from the station's website.

In case you don't know, the Community Journalism Program was an initiative first introduced by the ABC-owned stations in 2018.

In 2019, KABC Los Angeles President and General Manager Cheryl Fair told the Knight-Cronkite News Lab these embedded journalists would live where they work.

“They wouldn’t have to come in to the station every day like all the rest of our reporters," Fair told Knight-Cronkite. "They wouldn’t have to drive out with the news trucks, They would be shooters, editors, they’d be digital natives, with lots of proficiency when it came to publishing to digital. And they would become part of the community that they’re covering.”

Beltran and KTRK assignments editor editor Chaz Miller were hired as community journalists in early 2019. Miller still remains with the station as his bio is still online.

It appears Beltran was not just embedded in one area, but all over the channel 13 viewing area. A quick look at the KTRK website shows Beltran's byline on stories all the way from Onalaska, TX to Galveston and all parts in between.

Prior to KTRK, Beltran worked for:
- Metro News Network as a sports reporter
- Sports anchor/reporter KNVO Univision McAllen/Fox 2 KFXV anchor/reporter
- Sports anchor for Spanish-language affiliates Yahoo! Sports Radio
- KGOL ESPN Deportes Houston 1180 AM sports reporter/executive producer
- Yahoo! Sports Radio reporter/executive producer
- 1560 The Game KGOW reporter/executive producer

Beltran is a graduate of the Connecticut School Of Broadcasting and San Jacinto College.
