KIII-TV, a TEGNA company, announced today that Leslie Adami is joining the consistently top-rated news team in South Texas as co-anchor of 3News at 5pm with Rudy TreviƱo, and 3News at 6 and 10pm weeknights with Joe Gazin.
Adami joins KIII from KVUE, TEGNA’s ABC affiliate in Austin, where she has been a morning reporter and fill-in-anchor for KVUE Daybreak and KVUE Weekend Daybreak. Before joining KVUE, Adami was the weekday morning anchor for KLBK (CBS) News in Lubbock.
Adami is a proud Texas Longhorn. She attended the University of Texas at Austin where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in
Journalism and a certificate in Latino Media Studies. But before all of that, there was Sinton, Texas, where her family still lives. After chasing stories in both west and central Texas, Adami is excited and proud to continue sharing her passion for news with the people and place she's loved the most: back home in the Coastal Bend.
"I'm overjoyed and incredibly proud to be joining the KIII team. My family and I grew up with this station, and to work with South Texas' news leader is a dream come true for me. There's nothing like the spirit and strength of the people who belong to the Coastal Bend, and I look forward to sharing the stories of those who make it such a beautiful place to live,” Adami said.
“Leslie’s upbeat energy and dedication to local journalism is a tremendous asset to KIII and the Coastal Bend community,” said Nia Towne, News Director. “Whether it’s delivering the news from behind the desk or telling our community’s stories out in the field, Leslie will exemplify KIII’s mission of connecting people and improving lives.”
“KIII has been the #1 choice for local news in South Texas for decades. Having Leslie join our team furthers our commitment to serve the Coastal Bend with people who are known and trusted”, said Bruce Cummings VP TEGNA and President-General Manager KIII.
