Houston Public Media Young Leaders Council
Houston Public Media is accepting applications from public media supporters across greater Houston for its new Young Leaders Council. The council is part of the station’s efforts to engage future generations and deepen its community relationships.
The deadline to submit an application is May 31.
Houston Public Media launched the Young Leaders Council last spring, bringing together a diverse group of young professionals with a personal connection to public media. The inaugural class marked a new chapter in the station's history, one that thrives on community engagement and investing in the next generation of leaders. The Young Leaders Council represents a cross section of the communities Houston Public Media serves, and works to spread its mission.
Since its inception, members of the inaugural class have participated in strategic planning sessions with staff and other key station stakeholders, brainstorm meetings with content producers, and networking events with the Houston Public Media Foundation Board of Directors. As some of the station’s greatest ambassadors, members of the council share their love for public media by encouraging others to read, listen to and watch Houston Public Media, PBS and NPR content.
“As one of the fastest growing cities, Houston in many ways embodies the future of America—from its changing demographics and vibrant communities to its rapid population growth,” said Victoria Cordova, communications manager at Houston Public Media. “We care deeply about the community we serve and are excited about the opportunity to bring some of the region’s residents closer to us through this important initiative.”
