Dave Ward Media Excellence Award

The winner will be announced at the Houston Heroes Awards Luncheon on April 24, 2019

HOUSTON (January 15, 2019) – Crime Stoppers of Houston announces the establishment of the new Dave Ward Media Excellence.

This unique award will honor an entity or individual who has exhibited media excellence and will be selected by Houston media icon Dave Ward himself, along with support from a small committee of his constituents at Crime Stoppers of Houston.

The best part – the inaugural winner will be kept a secret and not revealed until the day of the Crime Stoppers’ Annual Houston Heroes Luncheon on April 24!

Six other awards, including the Fenner Weller and Women Who Shape Houston awards, will be given out at the luncheon to honor other individuals and corporate partners who have gone above and beyond keeping our community safe.

Crime Stoppers is honored to create this media award named after Dave who was instrumental in establishing Crime Stoppers in Houston, Texas back in 1981. Known as the most trusted voice of Houston and the face of KTRK for 50 years leading the 6pm and 10pm newscasts, Dave has continued his media legacy by lending his voice and image to numerous projects, including Dave Ward’s Houston.

His unwavering passion and commitment to help the Crime Stoppers in historical ways continues today.

“This award means everything to me. Everything. In a time where changes have been numerous at all levels of the media, I felt it important to designate those that I feel still strive for excellence and achieve it.” said Dave Ward. “I thank Crime Stoppers of Houston for this incredible honor and for the opportunity to highlight those who still “get it right” for the viewers.”

Following the awards luncheon, Dave will issue a statement about the winner and what criteria was used in the selection process.

The awards luncheon is open to the public. To purchase tickets, please contact phollek@crime-stoppers.org or 713-842-7224.
