93Q KKBQ wins prestigious Marconi Award for Legendary Station of the Year 2018
KKBQ-FM, The New 93Q, was named Legendary Station of the Year at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Marconi Radio Awards Show.
“Winning the Legendary Station award is a true reflection of KKBQ’s consistent performance on-air, and in our local communities,” says Cox Media Group Houston VP and Market Manager Mark Krieschen. “It was a true honor accepting the award for all of the employees who contributed to KKBQ’s success over the past 27 years.”
The award was presented last night in Orlando, Florida at the NAB Marconi Radio Awards Dinner & Show. The acclaimed awards show recognizes stations and individuals for excellence and performance in radio. Nominees were selected by industry peers and winners were voted on by the NAB Marconi Radio Awards Selection Academy.
The New 93Q met a rigorous list of requirements to win Legendary Station of the Year, which can only be awarded once to a station. Specifically, The New 93Q had to be on air a minimum 25 years, maintain a healthy list of previous awards, provide outstanding contributions to the radio industry, and have demonstrated continuous success in ratings, revenue and community outreach.
“This is our fourth Marconi in six years. Like the other three, this award is the culmination of all the blood, sweat, and tears that every single 93Q team member put forth to serve our communities,” said Johnny Chiang, Cox Media Group Houston Director of Operations.
