I don't normally post upcoming event notices, but this one is toally the subject matter of my blog so here you go:

A luncheon Celebrating Houston’s Pioneering Women in Media
In collaboration with Asia Society Texas Center and the Houston History Alliance

Please join us as we recognize pioneering Women in Houston in TV, FILM, Print, Radio, and Social Media.

Schedule of events:

Welcome from Michelle Mower
Setting the Tone with Donna F. Cole

11:30am
Lunch and film screenings of Geena Davis Institute short “See Jane: How Girls and Women are Portrayed in the Media” and The Representation Projects “The Mask You Live In” on how boys are being raised.

12:15pm
Franci Neely, introduced by Donna F. Cole

12:30pm
A discussion with invited panelists: Elma Barrera, Dayna Steele (101 KLOL), Shern-Min Chow, Sonny Messiah Jiles, Anoushe Ansari, and moderated by Franci Neely.

Don’t miss the Storyboards of additional pioneering women included but not limited to: Jessica Savitch, Janet Shamlian, Linda Ellerbee, Debbie Allen, Joe Beth Williams, Phylicia Rashad, Jacklyn Smith, Karen Carter Richards, Anita Long, Ruth Allen Ollison, Helen DeYoung, Cleverly Stone, Lisa Falkenberg, Lisa Malosky, Shara Fryer, Mary Benton, Chau Nguyen, Joy Sewing, and Nancy Barnes.

The Tales of Houston Women Collaboration is a 2-month retrospective and celebration displaying the many ways Houston’s women have, are, and will put their mark on local, national and global history. See Houston History Alliance (HHA) website for more information.

Proceeds from this luncheon will be donated to SWAMP for scholarships to women in the arts.
