KPRC 2 launches "Generation Under Fire" The Battle Over Guns in Schools

KPRC-TV Channel 2 takes an in-depth look at the local battle over gun control and school safety measures in the wake of the deadly shooting at Florida’s Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and increased gun violence across the United States.

“Generation Under Fire,” an original, locally-produced KPRC2 special focusing on the emotionallyLAU divisive arguments for and against gun rights and gun control in our local schools, airs Monday, March 26, from 6:30-7:00PM.

“These stories have become a fixture of our newscasts,” says KPRC-TV Channel 2 News Director Dave Strickland. “With ‘Generation Under Fire’ we hope to give viewers the details they need to make an informed decision on how we move forward as a community.”

The 30 minute special, hosted by KPRC2 anchors Bill Balleza and Dominique Sachse, will broadcast on-air as well as stream live on Click2Houston.com, and will feature packages on the collective effects of bullying, the debate on arming educators, guns and violence on schools, and advances in technology for protecting students, classrooms and campuses.

Contributors will include KPRC2 reporter Rose Ann Aragon reporting from the March For Our Lives in Washington, D.C., former KPRC2 Reporter Jennifer Bauer from Parkland, Florida, along with KPRC2 Investigators Robert Arnold and Bill Spencer, and KPRC2 Houston Newsmakers host Khambrel Marshall.

“It’s time that we as a nation have a civil discussion on gun violence in our schools and communities,” says KPRC-TV Channel 2 Vice President and General Manager Jerry Martin. “It’s our duty as a member of this community that we initiate and advance this dialogue.
