Dave Ward posted on Facebook that he has recorded radio spots along with Houston Astros shortstop Carlos Correa to promote Houston Children’s Charity Hurricane Harvey relief efforts.
"Radio was actually my first love in broadcasting, but this was my first time back in 50 years so I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it," Ward noted. "Especially since the suit and tie got to stay at home!"
You might remember last year when Ward gave me a fantastic interview about his time behind the AM microphone. In fact, his father had concerns about him moving to television.
"David, you've had a good eight-year, nine-year career in radio. Are you sure you wanna do this TV thing?" Ward replied, "Dad, trust me. I feel good about this."
One of the items from the post that really jumped out at me was his line:
Maybe I'll make radio a part of my next chapter, what do you think?
Well, he certainly has the voice for it.
Ward's wife, Laura, is the CEO, President & Executive Director of the charity. And since he made big news this week with the purchase of the Houston Rockets, I would be remiss if I didn't mention Tilman J. Fertitta is Chairman of the Board for the charity.
