Grab your piccolo and let KHOU 11 know you are apart of the Houston-area's best high school marching band.
According to the KHOU 11 press release sent to me, all eligible schools that participate will receive a donation to their school’s music program from Carnival Cruise Lines and the chance to be named “The Most Spirited High School Marching Band in Houston.” The winning band will also perform on KHOU 11 News this Morning the week.
Here’s how the contest works:
· Call for Entries: Through September 28 at 5pm CDT, Greater Houston area high schools can create and submit a video performance of their school’s fight song, alma mater or original piece of music.
o Bands can upload their video to YouTube, and email the link to their performance to bands@khou.com as their submission.
o Contest entry form and details can be found at www.khou.com/features.
· Top 5 Finalists Selected: Carnival will select five finalists based on sound, musical ability and style.
· Voting Period: Beginning October 13, fans can vote for their favorites from the five finalists on the KHOU Facebook page (www.facebook.com/KHOU11). Fans can vote up to one time per day through October 22.
· Grand Prize Winner: The winner will be announced on KHOU 11 News this Morning the week of October 27.
To celebrate, I dug up some old Houston-area high school football games I photographed and pulled out some band photos!
