Cathey joined the station in March 1999 as a Local Sales Manager and was appointed to Director of Local Sales the following year.

He understands the importance of new business development and cross platform selling and has made these a priority with the local sales staff,” said Susan McEldoon, KHOU President and General Manager. “With his experience, expertise and guidance, I’m confident that KHOU will continue along the path of success that we’ve come to enjoy."
Prior to joining KHOU, Cathey served as Vice President/Sales Manager for Petry Television in Houston, having previously worked at Petry Television’s Charlotte, NC office as an account executive from 1986 to 1995. Cathey’s sales career began in 1982 as an account executive with WRCB-TV in Chattanooga, TN, followed by an account executive position at WBTV-TV in Charlotte, NC.
Throughout his career, Cathey has been active in various civic, business and professional organizations.
He is a graduate of the University of Tennessee, where he holds a Bachelor of Science degree in communications and minor in marketing. He and his wife Sherri have two children.
