WHEN: Friday, December 2, 2011, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
WHERE: Fire Station 2, 5880 Woodway, 77057
DETAILS: The HFD in conjunction with KPRC Local 2, Outreach Program Inc. and several other non-profit organizations will be collecting toys (no clothes) for the holiday season. During the kick-off event at Fire Station 2, Los Cucos Restaurants will be providing free breakfast tacos (while supplies last) and Blue Bell will be providing free ice cream (while supplies last), to citizens who drop off a toy.
Citizens may help bring the joy of the holidays to children by dropping off a new or gently used toy at any HFD Station, December 2 – 20. A complete list of stations and addresses may be found by visiting the HFD website www.houstonfire.org. Toys may also be dropped off at all Firehouse Sub locations and Los Cucos Restaurants.
Last year, more than 15 thousand toys were collected and given to several thousand families during the Outreach, Inc. Give-away.
This year, the give-away will be held on December 22, 2011, from 8:30 a.m. until all toys have been distributed. The giveaway will take place at the New Light Christian Center located at 7317 E. Houston Road, 77028 near Ley Road in northeast Houston.
Citizens should be aware that toys will be distributed on a first come-first serve basis so there is not a waiting list. Citizens may call 832.394.6632 for this information in English and Spanish.
