KIAH 39's NewsFix launches 'The Fixer' investigative and consumer unit

Every Houston TV station has an investigative unit at this point, but when NewsFix was announced on KIAH CW39, I never thought it would have an investigative unit. Looks like I've been fixed though, because the station just notified me of its latest investigative endeavor.

Launched just a few weeks ago, "The Fixer" is NewsFix's new weekly segment in consumer advocacy and investigative reporting.

"The Fixer" has already gone after city hall and gotten results according to the installment's first story (video embedded above). After Houston Mayor Annise Parker implemented water conservation measures recently, "The Fixer" found city vehicles were getting excessive scrub downs resulting in wasted water. According to the report, the city shut down the problem.

Next "The Fixer" went after Bush Intercontinental Airport where the station says it uncovered potential overcharging of travelers concerning baggage scales.

“NewsFix continues to produce new segments which are pertinent to our viewers,” said NewsFix Executive Producer and Imaginator Gary Jaffe. “Our great investigative team has over 25 years of combined experience in the Houston television market, and putting “The Fixer” into action to will help raise awareness of issues that affect what’s happening around the city. You’ll never know the actual identity of “The Fixer,” although you’ll see his shadow, and always see his results.”

I don't know for a fact who is working in "The Fixer" unit since it is top secret at this point. But after helping get former KTRK 13 Undercover (Wayne Dolcefino) photographer David DeFranchi hired at KIAH 39, I have to imagine he is involved. It would be crime if he wasn't.
