UPDATE: Fox 26 KRIV anchor Don Teague answers 3 questions with Mike McGuff

Well I've been covering Fox 26 KRIV's dismissal of Mike Barajas and the search for his replacement. I just found out Fox 26 KRIV hired former NBC and CBS network correspondent Don Teague as its new main anchor with Melinda Spaulding. He is one of the guys I told you about a few months ago:

Teague to Co-Anchor Station’s 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. Weeknight Newscasts

HOUSTON – Don Teague joins FOX 26 as co-anchor of KRIV’s weeknight newscasts, “FOX 26 News at 5 p.m.” and “FOX 26 News at 9 p.m.,” announced Tom Doerr, Vice President and News Director of the station. Teague will co-anchor alongside Melinda Spaulding, beginning Monday, August 15th.

In making the announcement, Doerr stated, “We are thrilled to have a journalist of Don’s caliber join the Fox 26 News team. His depth of broadcasting experience, covering some of the most significant stories of the last decade, made him the standout candidate for this position.”

Most recently, Teague served as a network correspondent for CBS News, a position he held since 2009. Prior to that, he was a network correspondent for NBC Network News for seven years. Earlier in his career, Teague held anchor/reporter positions with KFMB-TV in San Diego, WXIX-TV in Cincinnati, and KFDX-TV in Wichita Fall/Lawton, Texas. He began his career as a general assignment reporter for KFXK-TV (then KLMG-TV) in Longview, Texas.

“It’s a privilege to be joining the FOX 26 news team, known for it’s commitment to quality journalism. I’m thrilled to be working in one of the most exciting and diverse cities and looking forward to calling Houston my new home."

Teague holds a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism from San Diego State University, a Masters of Science in International Relations from Troy State University and completed graduate courses in Government at Harvard University. He is the author of “Saved By Her Enemy,” published by Simon & Schuster in 2010. Teague was an Aviator/Commissioned Officer (Captain) in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1987-1998.

KRIV FOX 26 is part of The Fox Television Stations group, one of the nation's largest owned-and-operated network broadcast groups, comprising 27 stations in 18 markets and covering 37.21% of television homes in the U.S. This includes six duopolies in the top 10 markets: New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, Washington, D.C. and Houston; as well as duopolies in Minneapolis, Phoenix and Orlando.
