KHOU 11 has confirmed to mikemcguff.com that longtime reporter Dave Fehling is moving on from the Belo owned station.
“For nearly 18 years Dave Fehling has been one of this station’s top 'go-to' reporters," Executive News Director Philip Bruce told mikemcguff.com in a statement. "Now, after doing a standout job for us for so many years, Dave wants to try something new."
According to his bio, Fehling has been with KHOU since 1989 except from 1994-1998 when he was a network correspondent for CBS News. He is also a lecturer at the University of Houston naturally teaching broadcast journalism courses.
Fehling is no stranger to this blog. Last year I blogged about his joining of the 11 News I-Team. Fehling and I also met while taping an episode of Houston 8 with Ernie Manouse on KUHT 8 in 2009 (Michael Garfield "The High Tech Texan" was also a guest with us).
For a guy who has 'done it all,' I found Fehling to be very down to earth and an overall nice guy.
"He has the talent and experience to do many more great things in whatever he wants to pursue," Bruce said.
So enjoy Fehling's reports while you can (I do not know an official quitting date). You can also keep up with him on his personal website davefehling.com.
