KVUE 24 meteorologist undergoes emergency surgery

The Austin American-Statesman reports that KVUE 24 meteorologist Mark Murray had a Valentine's Day weekend surprise. It wasn't a bouquet of flowers, but a trip to the hospital for an emergency appendectomy:

Murray woke up feeling fine Saturday morning, but started feeling pain around 10 a.m.

His wife Crystal, a nurse, took him into the hospital early that afternoon.

He added that she kindly let him off the hook for Valentine’s dinner and that this was the first time he’s ever spent the night in a hospital. READ THE REST

Murray updated television viewers via his Facebook page with the news. This is clearly something that TV journalists will have to contend with from now on. In the old days the news person simply went missing. Now they have to decide how much is personal and how much goes on the social networking accounts. Does it ruin the mystique?
