KTSU's Maurice Hope-Thompson dies at age 68

KTSU host and TSU professor Maurice Hope-Thompson passed away this week. He was 68:

James Ward, dean of the TSU school of communications, said Hope-Thompson taught public relations, communications law and radio classes, as well as hosting public affairs programming on a station that otherwise features jazz programming. By Wednesday morning, as word spread of his death, students had begun calling about the classes he was scheduled to teach this semester.

“He was driven by information, learning things,” Ward said. “In some instances in our industry, you get stale. I don't think he ever allowed himself to get stale.”

He hosted KTSU's 6 a.m. news program on weekdays; his Saturday morning programs included a call-in show, Houston Talks. READ THE REST
