“I was envious of Reliant the day I saw it,” Jones said. “Reliant started me down the road of trying to create as airy a place as we could.” He also drew on an iconic stadium from Houston’s past for inspiration.
“I remember walking into the Astrodome during my senior year at Arkansas and thinking, ‘My gosh, what would it be like to be a part of something this impressive?’ ” Jones recalled. “It has been a reflection to me for the last eight or nine years of what I want to do, and it set a bar of impression that made me want to reach it or to exceed it in 2009.
