The Fox TV station CMS

Now it's time to get geeky.  I don't know how much of you get excited about television Web site content management systems like I do, but here is the latest scoop on the Fox CMS from TVNewsDay :

Fox Interactive Media, News Corp.'s three-year-old Web publishing and development division, is branching out, marketing a new content management system not only to other media companies, but to any company seeking outside help in building and operating dynamic sites with the latest bells and whistles.

Based on know-how accumulated in its work for News Corp.'s in-house Web operations — most notably MySpace.com, FoxSports.com and the Fox O&O sites — FIM's Digital Publishing Platform (DPP) allows clients to assemble customized Web sites and operate them with their own staff.

As part of the licensing agreement, FIM is also willing to handle hosting and video and ad serving. (FIM will not be selling national ads for clients as part of the service, however.) READ MORE

That's right Fox Interactive Media is selling the use of its CMS to other TV stations and companies outside of media! Does this mean IB and Worldnow need to be concerned?

Years ago I pondered what it would be like for me to get in this business. Could I have a company where I hosted and sent content to a handful of small market stations?  Then the bust came and I stopped thinking about this.
