Every industry has consultants. Some can be good, some can be bad. In TV land I've worked with some good consultants like Graeme Newell (and Stephen Warley formerly) of 602 Communications, Steve Safran of ARandD and Tom Rosenbaum of Magid and Associates as well as others.
But let's face it, as the old axiom goes, many are paid to look at your watch and tell you what time it is. In fact many have been charged in the TV world of taking a station's character away and making it look like every other station across the country. That or forcing a station to use crazy gimmicks. You know, all the stuff bloggers make fun of.
KMAX and KOVR, duopoly stations in Sacramento used the bad consultant concept in a promo for the Good Day Sacramento show.

Good Day Sacramento- Consultants "Phase 2"
Kudos to the stations for making fun at a problem in the industry. Did a consultant come up with this though?
[Thanks Ed!]
