Free Wi-Fi in Houston

The Houston Chronicle's Dwight Silverman lets us know that even though Earthlink abandoned plans for a Wi-Fi bubble in Houston, we haven't been totally left high and dry.  Now we have free access in some parts of the city:

An Access Locations page shows specific hotspots downtown, including Tranquillity Park, the Downtown YMCA, Hermann Square, outside some of the county courthouses, and at some of the MetroRail stations. The city earlier had turned on Wi-Fi access at Discovery Green park. READ THE REST

Silverman says this city pilot program came from Earthlink's payout after leaving the project. While you're at it, check out Dwight's iPhone review update. CONTACT: Leave me a Houston or Texas media news tip | COMMENT: Click to leave your thoughts on this post here
