You root against them and might even secretly wish you were them. After all, don't the bad guys and gals have more fun? Well, until they are killed off at the end of the movie or at best horribly deformed that is.  Uh, let's move on:

They're the men and women we love to hate. And really, what would a good guy be without a baddie to threaten virtue, menace the innocent and foil the best-laid plans?
