I will add one additional TV note in this space. Before being a news anchor, I was a sportcaster for about 12 years. One of the concerns we always had was whether to mention a sporting event that was still going on... and was being televised on a competing channel as we were doing our show.
For example, should the local sportscasters mention the Monday Night Football game at 10, knowing that the people who care the most are already watching the game, while also running the risk of reminding everyone else the game is on.

As a sportscaster, I would always include the information, because, well, that was my job.
Anyway, I was on the other end tonight, while sitting on my butt watching TV. I live in a market that gets the WFAA-Dallas newscasts, and I turned over to see what Dale Hansen had on his sportscast.
