Driving through Midtown in the rain the other day, I spotted the new site for Craiganale's, the funky little Italian-American red-sauce treasure that does a lunch-only trade near the downtown courthouses.If she likes Craiganale's, I will try it. The new freestanding restaurant--complete with a pending license to serve wine--is at Smith Street and Drew, in a lowslung, mansard-roofed building that once housed a Baby Giant convenience store and a Mexican joint. Pure Houston vernacular. The signs are up, but it still seems to be under construction.
