CNN and Fox News cut from Ms. Lacy to cover Mr. Bush’s speech, though CNN experienced an audio malfunction that resulted in the voice of the CNN correspondent, Kyra Phillips, overriding part of the president’s remarks with a private off-air conversation. Ms. Phillips told a friend that her husband is “handsome, and he is genuinely a loving, you know, no ego — you know what I’m saying, just a really passionate, compassionate great, great human being.”
She also complained that a relative was a “control freak.”
