Here is something from the latest post:
One thing that we did not have a chance to discuss on the air tonight, but I think is really interesting is how London deals with this. While this is still a huge story here, one person put it in perspective today pointing out that last summer London faced a deadly terror bombing and to a certain extent, the city is forced to deal with this a lot more than we are in the states.
At home, we are nearly five years removed from 9/11. Here, they are just 13 months away from the transit bombings of 7/7/2005. I'm not certain how it impacts people here. The only thing I've seen is a sort of dark humor to help cope.
There was some of the inevitable neighborhood reaction today defending the young men who were arrested. That is expected, but there is also some commentary in the newspapers here about how Anglo London will react to the Arabic communities here. This terror scare is changing more than just the flight home.
See you tomorrow here on the blog and back on the tube at 6pm.
In related news, here is an interesting article on the future of bomb detection in airports. Here is what you might not know, a lot of the equipment already exitst. CONTACT: Leave me a Houston or Texas media news tip | COMMENT: Click to leave your thoughts on this post here
